FREQUENCY OF BEING
Oil on Canvas
48 x 72 inches

This is the first piece in the
Frequency Series. This series was created to capture the frequencies of being. Each piece in the series takes an element of being human or specific life experience and then transduces, distills and captures the unique frequency of that experience.

ECHOES
Oil on Canvas
48x72 Inches
Echoes explores the experience of losing a person you love deeply, and the lingering feeling that the person you lost is still with you somehow. You sometimes feel connected to them, but the signal is frayed and hard to make out. When you stand back and try to feel the message it becomes clearer ... but when you try too hard to look for the message, it's lost in transmission.
It's about allowing yourself to experience the softness that's left after loss, and leaning into the comfort that comes from the sense that someone is looking over you and loving you from somewhere beyond the known world -whether you can prove it to yourself or not.
I created this piece as part of my frequency series in honor of my father who passed away. As I painted, it was his frequency -the frequency of his love for me- that I tried to capture.

DISTANT
Watercolor on Paper
36 x 27 inches
Inspired by the loss of a parent and the feeling of being groundless, untethered from reality and distant from yourself. The sprinkled rush of blue captures the withdrawn existence that intense pain can evoke; like being cast way out into the universe, observing everything from afar and not knowing how to come back to being a real person. The piece is intentionally soft and soothing, representing the seductive but ultimately misleading allure of shutting down emotionally.

WHAT IS MEANT FOR YOU
Watercolor on Paper

Created to represent the immensity of asking yourself "what is my purpose." The deep, chaotic, turbulent and surreal depths of the unknown rise and fall, reaching toward something transcendent and beautiful. What is meant for you will always find you.

BOUNDARIES
Oil on Canvas
Inspired by the process of getting to know someone and all the walls, boundaries, areas of darkness, sharp edges and soft spots you come across, stumble into and learn about them (and yourself!) along the way.

SIGNAL PROCESSING
Oil on Canvas
Work in Progress
Inspired by the immense potential and inherent frustration wrapped up in communication. The division between the light and the dark represents the societal belief that communication should be straightforward and simple which blocks the richer and more complex potential for real connection that emerges when the boundary is removed.

THE LINE
Watercolor on Paper
The small white border between the deep blues and the hot & bright warm tones represents the "safe zone" ... the thin line one has to walk as a creative to stay on course and the difficulty of not leaning too far into either the burning intensity of inspiration to the detriment of all else or the crushing fear of failure and the turbulent depth of the unknown.
